Tea For Christmas

Welcome dear friends to tea this week.  The time of the year to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus.  The reason for the Season!

I am using some of my collection of transferware for tea today.  I love the old fashion prints of  the sweet visions of long ago.  The large plates are a thrifty find named Winsor by Ridgeway of Staffordshire, England.  The smaller plates are Johnson Bro. from TJ Maxx.

The teacup in the front right is a Currier and Ives.  Made in the USA by Homer Laughlin, named View of  New York  an American subject..

This next teacup is marked Stratford, Scenes of the Shakespeare Country, British Anchor, England.

I am so glad you could join me for tea!  Wishing you a blessed Christmas season and a very happy New Year!

.

I will leave you with a poem I wrote to my dear 94 year old Mother back in  2003 about my childhood Old Fashion Christmases.

My childhood Christmases in the early 1950's were filled with excitement and joy.
Snow glittering beautifully outside our door, icicles hung from our windows so crystal and clear.  To our wonder, Jack Frost was here.
It was shivery cold outdoors, a winter wonderland, but our home warm with the love that was there.
The Christmas tree shimmered with tinsel and lights.  The many ornaments were so sparkly and bright.
The presents were wrapped lovingly with care,  placed under the tree for Christmas morning to be here.
Carols were sung and Christmas music was played.  The story of Christmas close to our hearts and very dear.
I remember the smell of our house so clear, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
I snuggled in bed on Christmas Eve full of warmth and wonder, very thankful indeed.
I knew then as I know now, I have only to thank my dear momma and daddy for giving those wonderful Christmases to me.

I will be joining these lovely parties this week:  Tea Time Tuesday,  Friends Sharing Tea, A Return to Loveliness,  Teacup Tuesday, and Tuesday Cuppa Tea.

Love the layered cloths on your table; so pretty and transferware is always right for Christmas tea. What a lovely setting in front of the tree. Your cookies look wonderful and I would be honoured to join you for tea today, my friend. Thank you for joining me for tea. Have a wonderful week.

Hi Nancy,
Your red transferware is so beautiful and just perfect for Christmas. Your silver teaset is lovely too but sooo much work to clean. You have inspired me to get to mine soon. Your Christmas cookies look delicious and oh my that poem has brought tears to my eyes. One does appreciate their parents very much at Christmas Time. I love your pinkish tree in the previous post with your sweet teacup decoration and teacup carpet. Happy Christmas! Karen

What a lovely transferware collection. I am especially partial to Homer Laughlin. What is the cup that has the saucer with the white embossed rim? You will have to share it with us another on another Tea Cup Tuesday, and tell us. OOps, maybe you already did!

Love the red transferware, and your log cabin! It looks so cozy for Christmas, and I'm sure you're making lots of memories for those you love now too.

That was so lovely. I want to know about the beautiful girl/angel? on the table...she is divine! Truly blesses your table with such grace and beauty. The cups and plates are all wonderful too, and the log cabin setting make it absolutely perfect. But the poem you wrote for your dear mother was best of all. Reminded me of my own mother and the Christmases we enjoyed as children. Thank you for sharing this with us today. It brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. God bless you my dear friend.

I love your table with the red transferware. I am just starting to collect it for Christmas (I will put it away after). I never paid much attention to it before but there has been some serious "blogger influence" in my life! Your decorations are all lovely!

I love your tea, and the red transferware is lovely. I do not own any transferware and do not recall seeing it for sale anywhere I've ever shopped ( even thrift & antique stores ) but if I ever do find any I will snap it up !

Your tablesetting has not only beauty but an air of serenity , that is very appealing to me. Thank-you for allowing me in for tea today.

The red transferware is striking against the white tablecloth and the elegance complete with the addition of the silver tea set.
The poem is lovely. I'll be having my 94 year old friend on Christmas day for dinner as she doesn't have any family.

Hello Nancy,
Thank you for stopping by for a visit this week. I have wondered how you were getting along over the holidays. Those are usually the hardest as well as birthdays and special occasions. I always miss my Daddy during the holidays because he made so many beautiful memories for me. I also miss my best friend because she and I were more like sisters and we shared such a love of family and Christmas. I think of you often and when I do I pray for you. The sweet spoon always brings you to mind. Have a lovely day, my friend, and I look forward to you joining my tea party soon. How wonderful it would be if we could really get together and chat over some cups of tea!

Blessings and hugs,
Sandi
