Hello and welcome! It's a beautiful and sunny day with a cool breeze so thought I'd take tea in my little hen house retreat. The shed originally was a chicken coop that my hubby built years ago. After it stood empty for a few years I got the bug to clean it and make it into my own little retreat. I meant to white wash the inside but never seem to get at it! Within a month the outside of the hen house will be covered with hop vines.
I made a quick pot of Earl Grey tea and chose a Victoria magazine to enjoy for a brief break from gardening.
The teacup is marked England and the saucer is marked Melody by Myott, England 1952.
Here's more pictures of the inside of my retreat I've decorated with second hand finds.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of my hen house retreat! Wishing you all a wonderful week and thank you so much for stopping by!
I will be joining the following parties this week: A Return to Loveliness, Tea in the Garden, Share Your Cup Thursday, Home and Garden Thursday, Simple and Sweet Fridays, Home Sweet Home, and Show and Tell Friday.

I love your hen house retreat! What a great idea for the cute building.
Charming and cozy, everything a retreat should be! I love the blue and white delicate patterns in your perfect little hideaway and the lace curtains are so very quaint! It's all too sweet!

Oh,your special retreat is perfectly lovely! I just discovered your blog from A Return to Loveliness - and so very glad I did. I have just had a delightful time reading your previous posts - thank you so much for sharing.
I just love your hen house retreat! So cute...and welcoming! I'm surprised there are no hens or roosters hopping about! But it is lovely, and much more pleasant without any real roosters pecking away...(I once a bad experience with a rooster when I was 4 years old...so I try to keep my distance!)
Oh Nancy, your retreat looks like it belongs in a storybook! You've decorated it so perfectly. I'd love to be a guest!! I would take good care of it. It's darling and the perfect lt to sneak away for a cup,of tea.
What a perfect little retreat! I have the same magazine! I love all the blue and your pretty blue teacup! Enjoy your little getaway!
What a wonderful job you've done with creating this perfectly cute and cozy spot! Really enjoyed seeing it. BTW, I lived in Calumet for 6 years while a young girl. I have such fond memories of the UP! Thanks for sharing your lovely hen house retreat! Bess
What a cute little retreat! It's just precious! You've decorated it perfect! I would be scared though that the spiders would like it just as much as I did! Enjoy your hen house retreat and thanks for sharing! Gina
Nancy, I am impressed with your little retreat. It deserves a much more elegant name because no one would ever guess it used to be a hen house.
So many special details, I'd love to join you for tea and spread out Victoria magazines across the couch.

Hi Nancy! I love, love, love your hen house retreat. I'm partial to blue and white, so it was an instant hit with me. You have it decorated so nice. It's the perfect spot for briefly closing out the world and taking a few moments for yourself. Wish I could join you there for tea!
The Hen House Retreat is just marvelous...putting the phrase hen house retreat with initial caps gives the retreat more of the respect it deserves.:)

Nancy, I love your special space. How clever your decorations are. I have been looking for a blue tablecloth to add to my collection. When I saw your blue and white fabric it gave me a great idea. Thanks. I don't have much blue and white , however, recently I bought a blue and white two tier server.
What a wonderful hen house retreat. Do you ever sleep out there?
O my, I dream of a little place like this... and in my favorite Blues & Whites.. I'm in love with it you did a wonderful job with the decor... Now my dreams are going to be larger..hehehe... I remember we had a shed with wonderful windows in Moms Garden and my uncle came from L.A. and torn it down and I often dream of it.. It had lovely pane windows and a bunch of my great grandmas old turquiose mason jars... Sad.. we I can come visit your post and dream it's very lovely indeed with love Janice
Wow, your hen house retreat looks so inviting - love how you've decorated it - Love the lilacs and the gorgeous dishes - beautifully photographed! I appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,

I have been away from blog-reading much too long! I just stopped by to tell you I LOVE your hen house retreat. When I was a little girl, my dad and my neighbor's dad raised chickens. When the chicken houses were no longer used for that purpose, we used them for playhouses. What memories you have brought back!
I love your hen house retreat! How nice to have a little place to go to get away from it all and enjoy your tea! Nancy
