For this week I thought I would have tea by my peonies. I always look forward to peony time for their sweet smell and beauty. We had lots of rain lately so the blooms are not as perky as a few days ago.
I'm using mismatched dishes for tea time today, all thrift store finds.
I love the teacup with the sweet flowers in the center. Her last name is Coalport Maybe I'll call her Sweetness! The saucer goes well with quite a few of my lone teacups. The mark says Orleans, Bavaria.
The sugar bowl with the dainty flowers is unmarked and found without it's mate, the creamer.
The little lady is so precious to me. My Mom gave her to me years ago. She put her Mother's butterfly brooch on top of the basket the lady is holding.
My Brother and Sister-in-law gave us the tall light pink peony for a house warming gift over twenty years ago and the darker peonies were from a friends garden that many years ago. What a sweet remembrance of the loved ones who gave them to me.

are so beautiful. When I dry mine I just leave them in the vase rather than hanging them because I don't like it when they are flattened because I use them in wreaths. The air here in my part of Idaho is extremely dry so it is perfect for this type of drying method. If you live where there is a lot of moisture in the air it may not work for you. One year I dried them over a rainy week here and they just turned brown. This year was perfect for peony drying because our temps were HOT and dry :)

Hello Nancy, thanks for visiting and commenting. Coalport china was very popular when I was young. Of course these days very few people use china as mugs are all the thing and less likely to break and they will go in the dishwasher.

Oh how I miss Peonies! I first discovered them in Ohio years ago, when we rented a big old home in a small rural community while my husband was in seminary. The peonies popped up in the spring and I was so thrilled with their fragrance and beauty! Sadly, they are another of my favorite flowers that do not grow in Florida. I have some artificial ones that I keep on my buffet! They aren't quite the same, but they make me smile. Loved your tea cup, sugar bowl, and little girl from your mother. What a treasure. What a beautiful seating. I can smell that Great Lakes air and peonies by just viewing this post. How relaxing it is to have a cup of tea in the garden. I'm going to have to look for some cups with the color on the inside. Imagine a guest's surprise when they see that beautiful shade of pink as they drink their tea. You are an inspiration - I'll have to have tea amongst the blooms of my garden.

Yours are lovely and flowers that were given as gifts are always so special. I love getting starts from friends. Then I always think of them when they bloom. Love the little girl with the brooch!
